San Diego. 2 times in a month.
This time no Sea World. This time it’s for a race.
My 2nd half marathon.
And a weekend away for TB and I.
TB is still recovering from his last race injury so it was just me this time.
We enjoyed the day before the race with some shopping, finally found a briefcase purse that I loved- been looking for so long, so really good tacos, and relaxing by the pool.
Our attempt at carb loading that evening didn’t work out so well. What looked like a great little place for pasta resulted in horrible service, the worst meatballs I had ever had, and at least I was able to finish the linguini.
Even with a poor last dinner the race was wonderful. What a great course- the rolling hills were a challenge, but the course ran through the zoo, mission park, on the historic highway, ending at Sea World. I set myself a target of 2:20 and while I didn’t manage to sign up for the pace team like I planned, they were in my corral so I was able to spot them from the start.
Amazingly after about 5min that 2:20 pace team was behind me and I kept them there. I finished in 2:17, over 10 min faster than my last half. I actually think I might be able to set myself a 2:00 goal. Not for the next race…but maybe a 2012 goal.
TB met me after the race and he also picked out an amazing burger joint for us. (My one race assignment.) The burger was huge and it was fabulous. Absolutely fabulous.
A great race and a great burger all before noon.
A pretty good Sunday…thank you San Diego. We will be back. To eat or to run. Or to eat and run!!

You kicked that 1/2′s butt! 10 minutes off your last time is huge – great job A!
